Mediation

Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which the parties make use of an independent mediator to facilitate discussions with a view to resolving their legal issues without the risk associated with a court hearing.

The potential advantages to mediation over the civil trial court process is the inherent flexibility it gives to each of the parties in allowing them to choose the mediator and the dates within which time the mediation will take place, rather than waiting for the courts to choose a date for them and assign a judge to decide the case. Mediation also empowers the parties by giving them input into, and control over, how the dispute will be resolved.

As counsel, Andrew Elrick has been mediating civil disputes for almost 30 years, and has completed the Harvard Law School Intensive Program on Mediation.
